I believe that this is not a single group but contains material taken on different occasions during the late 19th., and early 20th.century. I initially made the mistake of thinking that those photographs showing the workers wearing wing collars were earlier than those showing soft collars, i.e. in lantern sldes 60 and 61. However I discovered that the wing collar, in England, became popular in the late 1880s and flourished until the first world war.
I think that the worker shown in lantern slide number 55 is an earlier photograph of the gentleman shown in lantern slide number 60.
